The following subscription research databases can be used to find reputable and reliable articles on the subjects of fitness and health.


 

Before typing search terms and keywords into your database, remember to check off the option for Full-text articles and for Scholarly, Peer Reviewed or Refereed Journals.  These options appear in all our subscription databases.  When you check these options off you will recieve the entire article as well as articles that contain original research.

EBSCOHost

Academic Search Premier  Academic Search Premier indexes and abstracts over 8,000 journals. Of the 8,000 plus titles, the database provides full-text access for more than 4,500 publications, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed publications. The topics range among all areas of academic pursuit including arts and literature, chemistry, computer sciences, ethnic studies, engineering, language and linguistics.

CINAHL with Full Text CINAHL® with Full Text is rich collection of full text for nursing & allied health journals, providing full text for more than 610 journals indexed in CINAHL®. This authoritative file contains full text for many of the most used journals in the CINAHL index, with no embargo. Full-text coverage dates back to 1981.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition This database provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition also features the AHFS Consumer Medication Information, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names.

MasterFILE Premier  Designed specifically for public libraries, this multidisciplinary database provides full text for nearly 1,700 periodicals with full-text information dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Premier also contains full text for nearly 500 reference books and over 164,400 primary source documents, as well as an Image Collection of over 592,000 photos, maps & flags. This database is updated daily via EBSCOhost.

Newspaper Source Plus Newspaper Source provides selected full-text for nearly 30 United States and international newspapers. The database also contains selected full-text for more than 200 regional U.S. newspapers.

Science Reference Center  This comprehensive source covers a wide range of science-related topics including biology, chemistry, environmental science, health, medicine, physics and wildlife. The database provides full-text articles from leading scientific encyclopedias, reference books, magazines and journals. Biographies and images are also included.

Gale Databases

Health and Wellness Resource Center and Alternative Health Module  Provides instant access to carefully compiled and trusted medical reference materials. Includes nearly 400 health/medical journals, hundreds of pamphlets, over 700 health-related videos from partner Healthology, Inc., and articles from 2,200 general interest publications in addition to a broad collection of Gale reference titles. Material contained in this Resource Center is intended for informational purposes only.
